#12 Trixie Belden and The Mystery of the Blinking Eye

Author: Kathryn Kenny (pen name)
Pages: 212
Age Group: 11+
Genre: Mystery, New York, ancient artifacts

Great - headed man, with blinking eye,
A shaded road, a horses cry,
Foreign words for all to hear,
First clue is now so very near.
Watch out for thieves; they're everywhere,
At home, On island, dead beasts lair.
Where shines a beacon across the sky,
Beware, great danger lurks close by.

Thus begins the strange prophecy that launches Trixie, Honey and the rest of the Bob-Whites upon another exciting adventure, in The Mystery of the Blinking Eye.
My Review
Whilst in New York, Trixie Buys this strange, Ugly, Wooden Incan crafted person, from a vintage shop. She thought it was so ugly that she liked it But... little did she know that it had a high value unknown to her. After she brought it thieves were constantly tracking her down and as time ticks on she has a few close scrapes. Another Mystery with Trixie what will she do this time....

Enjoy,
Courtney.

#11 Trixie Belden and the mystery of Bob-White Cave

Author: Kathryn Kenny (pen name)
Pages: 187
Age Group: 10+
Genre: Mystery, Cave exploring

"What is it, Brian?" Trixie asked.
"Bats. Thousands of them. Gosh!"
The startled bats roared into flight,
circling the cave clockwise and beating
against the Bob-Whites, almost knocking
them down. The girls waved their arms wildly
and ran out of the cave. Slim, pushing the
girls aside, ran ahead of them.
The whirring wings of the frenzied bats
sounded like the roar of an express train...

My Review
I just love Trixie Belden books so much!! In this book the Bob-Whites went to their Uncle Andews Fishing lodge up in the Ozark Mountains for a holiday. When Trixie finds an Article in a fishing magazine about... they all get on board the mission to find this strange creature. #9 Trixie Belden and the Happy valley mystery

Author: Kathryn Kenny (Pen name)
Pages: 212
Age group: 11-adult (everyone likes Trixie no matter what age!)
Genre: Mystery, Farm life,

"we'd better get out of here," Jim said. Trixie nodded, unable to say anything. A rush and a roar of water followed the collapse of the bridge. About fifty or seventy-five feet from them, water swirled angrily. Big tree branches floated by out in the current, then the bloated body of a cow, and half a dozen chickens.

"turn the car around as fast as you can," Honey urged, terrified. "Oh, you can't turn around, Jim! There isn't a road anymore!"

My Review

When the Bob-Whites go to the Beldens uncle's farm they are thrilled! But when Trixie finds out there are some sheep thieves on the loose, she is constantly naming suspects who turn out to be neighbors or people who are definitely not the thieves. So she is the laughing stock of the household! This really upsets her and makes her even more eager to find the real thieves! Will she find out who is stealing her uncles sheep? What is the strange light in the woods near the farm?
Will Trixie find out the answers???

A great book, Hope you are having a good holiday, and enjoying the last few days! Take care,

Courtney

Trixie is intrigued by Regan's problems and the sudden appearance of Dan Mangan, a black-jacket wearing city kid who has come to stay with My Maypenny.  Although the Bob-Whites are busy organizing an Ice Carnival to help out their Mexican pen-pals, Trixie is determined to find out why Dan is here and what is troubling Regan.  When Honey's missing watch is pawned and the clubhouse is broken into, the finger points squarely at Dan.  Trixie's dislike of him is evident, but when she and Bobby find themselves in trouble he is the only one who can save them. Will he save them or not???
My Review
Of course this was a great read!! I was sucked into yet again another fantastic mystery!! In this book there was another character introduced into the story.
Dan Mangan a curious young fellow has moved from the city to stay with his uncle. Trixie as usual assumes that he is related to Mr.Maypenny but when she comes across a few suspicious clues she begins to think otherwise.
Who is Dan related to?? Is he the mysterious thief or not??

A must read book, read it to find out who Dan really is...
hope you are going well and make sure you enjoy your reading,
at the moment I am reading Rivals to the crown it is a very informative read all about Elizabeth and Mary Tudor, I will post a review of it soon.

#7 Trixie Belden and the mysterious Code

Author: Kathryn Kenny
Pages: 233
Age Group: 10+
Genre: Mystery,
Acts of vandalism at the Bobwhites school forces the board of Sleepyside High to crack down on secret clubs, and the Bobwhites are forced to prove their worth by holding an Antique show to raise money for UNICEF.  Preparation for the show uncovers some truly valuable antiques and attracts some unwanted attention, putting the life of Bobby and Trixie in danger. Will their club survive??
 My review
Kathryn Kenny has done a great job of continuing the same characters to the next mystery. As I told you last time the 6th book was Julie Campbells last book. You would think that there would be some noticeable differences in the way it is written but... I can honestly say that I couldn't pick out anything different even the way the characters said things! This was yet again a great mystery. It was a very involved mystery with many intense sections which threatened the lives of a few characters! I just love reading all about the characters as they have come to life in my world!!

Awesome Book!!! from a must read series !!!!
As it's the holidays you should have plenty of time to read... So enjoy
Hope you visit soon...

#6 The Mystery In Arizona

Author: Julie Campbell
Pages: 234
Age group:11+
Genre: Mystery, Arizona, cowboys
 My review
I love Trixie Belden books and can see how they were such a hit in the 1950's & 1960's. Unfortunately they aren't extremely popular in this generation but I want to change that. As usual the Mystery in Arizona was great although this was Julie Campbells last book and people think that she didn't do a very good job of her last two books, I thought they weren't that bad at all, in fact I thought they were just as good as the others.
In this book Trixie, Mat, Brian, Honey, Jim & Di all get invited to fly over to Arizona to spend Christmas at Di's uncle's Dude Ranch. Unfortunately Trixie assumes she won't be allowed to go as she has to study for the half year exams. Since she was failing every subject her mother said she had to study, study, study. When they arrive in Arizona, Di's uncle is flustered because strangely enough all of his staff have left the dude ranch.
What will the Bob-Whites do?? Is Trixie allowed to go??
Read this awesome book to find out!!!

Hope you are enjoying this series as only have 8 more books to get before I have the whole series (39 books)!!
see you all soon,

#5Trixie belden and the mystery off glen road

Author: Julie Campbell
Pages:236
Genre:Mystery
After a hurricane hits sleepyside, the Bob whites clubhouse roof gets damaged. They are desperately trying to earn the money to repair it. But bad storms and snow is on the way, If the Club house doesn't get repaired quickly it could be ruined! Brian offers the money he had saved to buy his car, but Trixie and Honey come up with a plan to get the money and keep Brian's car.A diamond ring, a strangely dressed man, a unicycle and a dead deer become elements of a strange mystery that in the end isn't that mysterious.
My Review
I rate this book 9 out of 10
This book was a great read, Although most people say it isn't as good as the first 4 books in the Trixie Belden series, I thought it was great just like all of her books! It was Julie Campbell's second last book, before Kathryn Kenny took over writing the rest of the series.
In this book Honeys father had just bought the paddocks along glen road to use as a game reserve.Unfortunately his Game Keeper wasn't very good at his job and got fired leaving the Wheelers without a Game Keeper.
At the time a huge hurricane ripped through Sleepyside partly wrecking the Bob-whites club house roof/wall. They are all broke so the Bob-whites have to earn money quickly before the snow comes.
Could they be the Game Keepers until Mathew(Honeys dad) finds another one?

Hi all you readers out there.
I would love to hear what you thought
about the trixie belden series.
Cheers, Courtney

#3Trixie Belden and the Gatehouse mystery

Author: Julie Campbell
Genre:Mystery,Fiction but seems realistic
Trixie Belden is my favourite character in the Trixie Belden series. She is a Thirteen-year-old girl who is described as being short with a sturdy build, she has short sandy, blond ringlets and round blue eyes. She has a tendency to jump to conclusions, but her hunches often prove to be correct. One of Trixie's chores is to look after six-year-old Bobby, She loves her little brother, but she often loses patience with the mischievous child. Trixie has an amazing instinct for people and can accurately judge them before she gets to know them. Her best friend is Honey Wheeler. She and Honey plan to one day open their own business The Belden-Wheeler Detective Agency.
             My review
I really enjoyed reading all the Trixie Belden books so far. the Author writes in a way that makes it feel like it is really happening and has you sitting on the edge of your seat. These books are suitable for ages 12+ because they could be a little bit confusing for younger kids.Even though these books are quite old they are my favourite series so....
I rate them 10 out of 10!!!.
Here is what the 1st three books are about.
(I didn't give away the actual mystery's in the story's.)
  1. Trixie Belden and the secret of the Mansion is about how Trixie becomes friends with a girl that moves in to the house next to her farm. Honey and Trixie become good friends and solve many exciting mystery's together.
  2. Trixie Belden and the red trailer Mystery is about how Trixie Belden and Honey go camping to find a  friend that ran away  in the mystery before this one, and happen to come across a gang of trailer thieves.
  3. Trixie Belden and the Gatehouse Mystery is about how the two girls stumble across a diamond when they are exploring the old gatehouse on Honeys property. They get sucked in to the mystery and get delayed many times. Will they manage to solve the Mystery or not?
Check out the review of #4 Book,

These books may be hard to find because they aren't published much any more. There are actually 39 books in the series. Here are some tips to where you may be able to find them.
  1. Look in op shops around your town or area,You should go to op shops every week or two and search around in the book section to find the Trixie Belden books. I think you could ask the shop to notify you if any of the books you wanted came in.
  2. You could also go to garage sales, markets, car boot markets etc. All of the options listed would  probable sell the books for a reasonable price and be on most weekends of the year.
  3. If you are to busy to look around op shops regularly you can go on to eBay and search Trixie Belden books and there should be a wide variety of the books to choose from, but the only disadvantage of doing that is that they are allot more expensive than op shops. They will range from prices of about $5-$15 possibly more or less than that price because you have to include postage + Price so I am estimating that it would cost at least $10 altogether, if not even more.
  4. Some Library's may still have the Trixie Belden books but most won't. It depends on whether your library still keeps old books. But if they do you could borrow them if you are a library member or they may even have them for sale.
I hope you will be able to find them and will enjoy reading them as much as I have
Thanks again, Courtney
cya soon

Ps.Make sure you don't pinch my Trixie Belden books from the op shops!!!!lol
