Author: Kathryn Kenny (pen name)
Pages: 212
Age Group: 11+
Genre: Mystery, New York, ancient artifacts

Great - headed man, with blinking eye,
A shaded road, a horses cry,
Foreign words for all to hear,
First clue is now so very near.
Watch out for thieves; they're everywhere,
At home, On island, dead beasts lair.
Where shines a beacon across the sky,
Beware, great danger lurks close by.

Thus begins the strange prophecy that launches Trixie, Honey and the rest of the Bob-Whites upon another exciting adventure, in The Mystery of the Blinking Eye.
My Review
Whilst in New York, Trixie Buys this strange, Ugly, Wooden Incan crafted person, from a vintage shop. She thought it was so ugly that she liked it But... little did she know that it had a high value unknown to her. After she brought it thieves were constantly tracking her down and as time ticks on she has a few close scrapes. Another Mystery with Trixie what will she do this time....

Enjoy,
Courtney.

Genre: Mystery, Cave exploring

"What is it, Brian?" Trixie asked.
"Bats. Thousands of them. Gosh!"
The startled bats roared into flight,
circling the cave clockwise and beating
against the Bob-Whites, almost knocking
them down. The girls waved their arms wildly
and ran out of the cave. Slim, pushing the

Author: Peter Grey
Pages: 184
Age Group: 10+
Genre: Horses, Mystery, Adventure
First published: 1959
The wild one strangely enough doesn't have a blurb so.. i guess i will have to explain!
My Review
When Kit Hunters parents die she is left to fend for herself. Yet her 'Uncle Richard' (not really her uncle but that's what she calls him) invites her to come and stay at his farm out on the moor grange. She used to love staying there when she was younger so quickly took up the offer. When Kit finds out that Uncle Richard is struggling for money she is quickly on the scent and is sniffing down suspects. Whilst Kit and Mary (the stable hand at the farm) in the middle of the mystery they find out about a strange horse which doesn't seem to belong in the wilderness. Is this The Wild One?? Will they be able to save Moor Grange in time???

This book was absolutely thrilling, loved every bit of it!

#9 Trixie Belden and the Happy valley mystery

Author: Kathryn Kenny (Pen name)
Pages: 212
Age group: 11-adult (everyone likes Trixie no matter what age!)
Genre: Mystery, Farm life,

"we'd better get out of here," Jim said. Trixie nodded, unable to say anything. A rush and a roar of water followed the collapse of the bridge. About fifty or seventy-five feet from them, water swirled angrily. Big tree branches floated by out in the current, then the bloated body of a cow, and half a dozen chickens.

"turn the car around as fast as you can," Honey urged, terrified. "Oh, you can't turn around, Jim! There isn't a road anymore!"

My Review

When the Bob-Whites go to the Beldens uncle's farm they are thrilled! But when Trixie finds out there are some sheep thieves on the loose, she is constantly naming suspects who turn out to be neighbors or people who are definitely not the thieves. So she is the laughing stock of the household! This really upsets her and makes her even more eager to find the real thieves! Will she find out who is stealing her uncles sheep? What is the strange light in the woods near the farm?
Will Trixie find out the answers???

A great book, Hope you are having a good holiday, and enjoying the last few days! Take care,

Awesome book!! It was a great mystery! It reminded me a little bit of the Hardy boy books. I found it in an Op shop 15cents !! I am a big fan of mystery books and this certainly was very exciting. The two main characters were Kathy & Meg. Kathy had a hearing impairment which made the story quite informative. It was very interesting to learn how it would feel to not be able to hear anything. I rate it... 10 out of 10
Very good storyline and written beautifully!!

Rabbit girl

Author: Mary Arrigan
Pages: 224
Age group: 10+
Genre: war, realistic, animals, history, friendship
When Mallie buys a drawing of a girl with a rabbit, she finds a mystery within the old picture that connects her to two evacuees from the London Blitz.
 My review
Rabbit Girl tells two stories, parallel to each other in alternating chapters. The two main characters are Tony and Mallie
First I'll tell you about Tony as he was born earlier than Mallie.
 Tony
Tonys story was set in the Second World War.He's story begins first in Ireland, then London and then later in the Lake District.
When young Tony travels to England to be with his father who has found work in London. Tony is at first utterly disappointed as all he wanted was a garden with a hutch and some white rabbits in it.But they are living in a smelly house(room) with no garden. Slowly he adapts to his new life in the city, before having to adapt all over again when the War begins.
 Mallie
Mallie story was set in the present day, and tells of a teenage girl called Mallie Kelly, who lives alone with her mother Sarah. Mallie worries for her mother, who always seems to be losing jobs and her love for her talent, which is drawing and art. Mallie secretly takes a job working at the local pet shop, against her mother's wishes, to get some money and buy her mother a special birthday gift.
This gift turns out to be very special indeed, alongside the romantic matchmaking attempts by Mallie for her mother, ultimately draws together the two strands of the story together.
There is a secret which you may guess at during the story, which is revealed at the end of the story.
Although Mallie lives in the present day a world so different  from Tony's somehow in the end both worlds are brought together.

An absolutely marvelous book! I loved the comparison between Tony and Mallie's lives.
I recommend this book to everyone.
Enjoy,
Courtney

#7 Trixie Belden and the mysterious Code

Author: Kathryn Kenny
Pages: 233
Age Group: 10+
Genre: Mystery,
Acts of vandalism at the Bobwhites school forces the board of Sleepyside High to crack down on secret clubs, and the Bobwhites are forced to prove their worth by holding an Antique show to raise money for UNICEF.  Preparation for the show uncovers some truly valuable antiques and attracts some unwanted attention, putting the life of Bobby and Trixie in danger. Will their club survive??
 My review
Kathryn Kenny has done a great job of continuing the same characters to the next mystery. As I told you last time the 6th book was Julie Campbells last book. You would think that there would be some noticeable differences in the way it is written but... I can honestly say that I couldn't pick out anything different even the way the characters said things! This was yet again a great mystery. It was a very involved mystery with many intense sections which threatened the lives of a few characters! I just love reading all about the characters as they have come to life in my world!!

Awesome Book!!! from a must read series !!!!
As it's the holidays you should have plenty of time to read... So enjoy
Hope you visit soon...

#6 The Mystery In Arizona

Author: Julie Campbell
Pages: 234
Age group:11+
Genre: Mystery, Arizona, cowboys
 My review
I love Trixie Belden books and can see how they were such a hit in the 1950's & 1960's. Unfortunately they aren't extremely popular in this generation but I want to change that. As usual the Mystery in Arizona was great although this was Julie Campbells last book and people think that she didn't do a very good job of her last two books, I thought they weren't that bad at all, in fact I thought they were just as good as the others.
In this book Trixie, Mat, Brian, Honey, Jim & Di all get invited to fly over to Arizona to spend Christmas at Di's uncle's Dude Ranch. Unfortunately Trixie assumes she won't be allowed to go as she has to study for the half year exams. Since she was failing every subject her mother said she had to study, study, study. When they arrive in Arizona, Di's uncle is flustered because strangely enough all of his staff have left the dude ranch.
What will the Bob-Whites do?? Is Trixie allowed to go??
Read this awesome book to find out!!!

Hope you are enjoying this series as only have 8 more books to get before I have the whole series (39 books)!!
see you all soon,

The undercover secret

Author: Colin Thiele
Pages:133
Age group:10+
Genre: realistic, mystery

Jenny Cox loved the river that flowed past her suburban home. Often she sat on the bank dangling her feet in the water, sometimes meeting her old friend and neighbour, Swampy Marshman, and his friends - enigmatic trio, Hoppy, Fatso and Slim. It was during the Depression of 1930s - Jenny's father was out of work and times were hard for everyone she knew, but in her private world by the river Jenny felt safe and secure. When swampy died unexpectedly, Jenny was suddenly plunged into strange and terrifying experiences. WHO was the  mysterious stranger whom she surprised searching through Swampys house? What was the secret of Swampy's parting gift-two battered old stamp albums that were practically worthless? Why was Jenny chased in a frightening pursuit through the park one night? And worst of all, would her parents really be forced to give up their riverside cottage and be thrown out onto the street? Just when everything seemed to be lost, Jenny discovered the old mans secret...
My Review
The undercover Secret was a exciting read which was very cleverly set out. All of Colin Thiele's Books are set in Australia. This book was located in the heat of Hackney, 10 Min's out of Adelaide. It was great to read a book that shows how Adelaide would have been in the 1930's. It  is a great book suitable for anyone! Every page was leading you towards the 'under cover ' secret. And left you wondering what was going to happen next.
I highly recommend this book and also all of these other Colin Thiele books I have read...
February dragon
Jodie's Journey
Blue Fin
The fire in the Stone

You will defiantly be seeing more of Colin Thiele's books on my blog soon.
Thanks readers, Hope you are enjoying the rest of your holiday and had a great Easter,

Case #4 The unsuspecting gourmet was and awesome book!! Case #2 was my favorite book in the series! Actually I loved all the books in this series equally. This is my favorite series along with the Trixie Belden books.

Wilda added a few personal touches and then entered it in a contest. Sophie didn't think it wouldn't have a chance of winning But unfortunately... It won!! worry because Wilda and griffin quickly disappear. Now it's up to Sophie Sam and their Private Investigator Boss, Gus, To find Wilda and Griffin before it's to late.

My Review
I rate this book 9 out of 10
This book was a great read, Although most people say it isn't as good as the first 4 books in the Trixie Belden series, I thought it was great just like all of her books! It was Julie Campbell's second last book, before Kathryn Kenny took over writing the rest of the series.
In this book Honeys father had just bought the paddocks along glen road to use as a game reserve.Unfortunately his Game Keeper wasn't very good at his job and got fired leaving the Wheelers without a Game Keeper.
At the time a huge hurricane ripped through Sleepyside partly wrecking the Bob-whites club house roof/wall. They are all broke so the Bob-whites have to earn money quickly before the snow comes.
Could they be the Game Keepers until Mathew(Honeys dad) finds another one?

Hi all you readers out there.
I would love to hear what you thought
about the trixie belden series.

This daring book will have you on the edge of your seat.
 My review
I rate this Book 7 out of 10 (really good)
This book was a very good book set in the land of the middle east. The Book starts by a very wealthy, greedy, conceited president called Al-Dallam, dreaming about getting richer and richer. He has always wanted to have all of the 'treasure' which he thought was behind the doors in the cavern but no one has been able to open the door to get to this 'treasure'. Finally he discovered the Cooper family who agreed that they would try and open the door in the dragons throat, Even though most of the people that went into the dragons throat never came back alive. This is how the adventure Begins.....
It was a little bit confusing in one or two of the paragraphs but I just re-read the few confusing parts and then I Understood the meaning.

On the Book it says ages 8-12 but I am 13 and I enjoyed reading it and I think that you will too!
